In the refreshing golden autumn of September 2024, the Youplus Management Committee embarked on a seven-day team-building journey to Japan. From the vibrant blend of tradition and modernity in Tokyo to the timeless serenity of Kyoto and the gentle deer encounters in Nara, we immersed ourselves in Japan's unique culture and landscapes while strengthening our team bonds through shared moments and laughter.
Tokyo: A Symphony of Modernity and Tradition
Upon arriving in Tokyo, we were struck by the juxtaposition of towering skyscrapers and ancient shrines, as if traveling through a time tunnel. The prayer bells of Senso-ji Temple seemed to transcend time, offering a moment of peace and reflection amidst the bustling city. Walking under the Kaminarimon Gate, we felt the solemnity and sacredness of history. On the second day, the breathtaking views of Mount Fuji left us in awe. Whether it was the mysterious tranquility of Oshino Hakkai or the shimmering waters of Lake Kawaguchi, each scene became an unforgettable memory captured in our lenses. Some team members chose to explore the coastal city of Kamakura, where the waves near Enoshima and the colorful trams evoked nostalgic memories, as if the melody of Slam Dunk echoed in our ears.
Kyoto: Immersion in History and Culture
In Kyoto, the ancient streets and meticulously arranged gardens felt like stepping into a series of exquisite paintings. Kiyomizu-dera Temple, located on the slopes of Otowa Mountain, is Kyoto's oldest temple, founded in 778 and designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1994. Descending from the temple, we strolled along the historic streets of Sannenzaka and Niyamizaka, lined with traditional shops, Japanese snack stores, and Miyazaki-inspired animation shops. Kyoto offered three days of exploration. Some team members visited Fushimi Inari Taisha, Sanjusangendo, Nishiki Market, and Pontocho, while others took the Sagano Romantic Train in Arashiyama, where the early autumn maple leaves hinted at the coming season. Some ventured to Lake Biwa, captivated by its serene beauty, while others enjoyed leisurely walks through the countryside, soaking in the clean air and picturesque landscapes. The Kamo River, Kyoto's lifeline, runs 31 kilometers through the city. Its clear waters and scenic banks provided the perfect backdrop for relaxation. At the Munchen Western Restaurant recommended by our General Manager Mr. Hu, we savored delicious food while enjoying the view, creating a unique and memorable experience.
Nara: Harmony with Nature and Wildlife
In Nara, we connected deeply with nature. The free-roaming deer in Nara Park were a highlight, and feeding and playing with them brought unparalleled relaxation and joy. Mount Wakakusa, a prime spot for sunset views, painted the sky with ever-changing hues of orange and red. That evening, we stayed in a century-old traditional Japanese guesthouse, where historical architecture seamlessly blended with modern comforts. Sitting together in the courtyard, we shared stories of the day under a starry sky, adding a touch of romance and warmth to our unforgettable trip.
The seven-day journey flew by, but the experiences left a lasting impact. We not only witnessed Japan's stunning natural landscapes and rich historical heritage but also deeply appreciated its unique culture and spirit. The Japanese pursuit of perfection was evident everywhere, from the immaculate streets to the meticulous service, reflecting their dedication to excellence. The politeness and respect of the Japanese people left a profound impression. Whether it was courteous greetings among colleagues or friendly nods from strangers, we felt a warm and harmonious atmosphere. The cultural principle of 'not causing trouble for others' highlighted the self-discipline and sense of responsibility ingrained in Japanese society, contributing to its smooth and harmonious functioning.
This team-building trip was not just a journey of enjoyment but also a valuable cross-cultural experience. We gained a deeper understanding of Japanese culture and a renewed appreciation for our roles as team members. Moving forward, we will incorporate this spirit of precision, respect, and responsibility into our daily work and lives, striving together toward higher goals. We look forward to our next adventure!
